It's not just Scalextric!

(Sold in Europe as Hornby Superslot Sport)	Scalextric has gradually evolved over the years.  Early in 2002 Hornby announced the introduction of a new track system entitled "Sport".  This new system is intended to make the track quicker and easier to set up and afterwards take apart again, but does not fit directly to the older track system.   Scalextric cars tend to be excellent in visual detail but are largely basic in technology, featuring fixed wheels, rear wheel drive and a static magnet with little or no adjustment.  However, Scalextric is by far the most popular brand, and it's a name known to everyone.   Track compatible with Classic Scalextric is still available - simply click here
Sold in Europe as "Technitoys Scalextric"	SCX is based on what is now called "Classic" Scalextric.  I.e. SCX track is identical in size and dimensions as all Scalextric track, and has the secure under track locking system featured by Hornby on all track produced prior to their recent switch to Sport track.     SCX make a wide variety of slot sets, which still stand ahead of the Hornby Scalextric range on variety of accessories and technical design of cars.  Most SCX Rally cars are full working 4WD, all cars have adjustable magnetism so that you can give extra cornering grip to an inexperienced driver and F1 cars have working steering.  All these features help the cars corner at greater speeds than other brands.   SCX Also have a wide variety of accessories including stop light gantries, infra-red hand controls and speedometers to add to your set.  Many sets come with these extra features as standard!
	Micro is made by Hornby as per the original Scalextric brand above, but it is aimed at the under 8's age group.  Micro Scalextric sets all feature small 1/64 (Matchbox size) cars with "Superhesion" (i.e. very strong magnets) so they can corner with amazing speed without coming off.  A number of different sets are offered, including "My First" which are colour coded to make controlling and putting cars on the track easy, "Bugs" which are four different sets with wild loops and wall climbs, "The Simpsons" featuring everyone's Dad 'Homer' and Bart on skateboards plus a standard Micro Mini set.
